Paphiopedilum orchids prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. A location with filtered sunlight, such as near an east or west-facing window, is ideal. If the leaves turn yellow, it might indicate excessive light exposure, while dark green leaves may signal insufficient light.

These orchids require consistent moisture, but overwatering should be avoided. Water them when the top layer of the growing medium feels dry to the touch. Use rainwater or distilled water if possible, as they are sensitive to salts in tap water. Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water to prevent root rot.

Paphiopedilum hybrids thrive in well-draining orchid bark mixed with perlite and sphagnum moss. The medium should retain some moisture while allowing airflow to the roots. Repotting every 1-2 years is recommended to refresh the growing media and ensure good health.
