Light

Monstera plants prefer bright, indirect light, but can tolerate low light conditions. In their natural habitat, they grow in the understory of the rainforest, where they receive dappled light filtered through the canopy of taller trees. When grown indoors, they should be placed in a location where they receive bright, indirect light, such as near an east- or west-facing window. Avoid placing your monstera plant in direct sunlight, as this can scorch its leaves. If your monstera is not getting enough light, it may become leggy and have smaller, fewer leaves. On the other hand, if it is getting too much light, its leaves may turn yellow. Adjusting the amount of light your monstera receives can help keep it healthy and encourage new growth.

Water

Monstera plants prefer to be kept evenly moist, but not wet or saturated. Water when the top inch of soil is dry. When you do water, water thoroughly, until it runs out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. Never leave the plant sitting in water. If you find that your Monstera is wilting, it is a sign that it needs to be watered immediately.

Growing Media

A well-draining potting mix is important for monstera plants. You can create your own mix by combining equal parts potting soil, perlite, and peat moss, or you can purchase a commercial potting mix that is formulated specifically for plants like monstera. Some additional ingredients that you can add to your potting mix include compost, worm castings, or coconut coir to improve moisture retention and provide additional nutrients. It's also a good idea to incorporate some type of slow-release fertilizer into the mix to help ensure that your monstera plant has a steady supply of nutrients as it grows.

Initially healthy plant, but had issues soon after

Shipment took more than two weeks after placing the order.

The plant looked healthy when I received it. The soil was extremely wet, so I decided not to water it till the top started to dry. I left it in a location with a good amount of indirect light. After a week, the plant started to wilt. Seeing as the soil was still wet, I decided to repot and check the roots.

The plant had an extremely small root system, and most of it was rotting. The pot it came in was way too large for the amount of roots the plant has. Also, most of the roots were still contained in the coco pellet with the netting, preventing the roots from easily growing outward. This is a classic problem when buying plants from nurseries.

I usually don't repot my plants for at least a month after receiving them via courier to reduce shock the plant has to go through. But I regret not repotting this one sooner.

I have since cut away 90% of the roots and moved it to water. New healthy roots are now growing, but will still take a while for the plant to get established.

My recommendation to soiled: Ensure your plants are in a pot based on the root size of the plants and that the coco pellet netting is removed. It is very clear that this plant was first grown out on coco pellets, and maybe a week before shipment, was moved to a pot that was two sizes too big for it. This causes the bottom of the pot to remain extremely wet, while the top dries out, increasing the chances of overwatering.

I wouldn't take time out to write this review if it was for a normal plant, but this is a slightly expensive and rare plant, hence I do hope you take my recommendations into account.
